The manner in which Kant circumvents the challenge by Hume is through advent up with new ways of embracing the workings of the mind. For this reason, Kant observes that human mind trans relieve oneselfs information from noumena through turning it into substantial phenomena in help the mind shape pure concepts regarding understanding.Copernicus adopted the alternative after seeing the impossibility of explaining the motion for heavenly bodies with reference to the supposition that such bodies moved across the earth as the immovable center (Gupta 78). So far, the remains of over 1,000 different dinosaur species agree been identified from fossils though technically, birds are feather dinosaurs, meaning dinosaurs arent really extinct at all. The fact that some dinosaurs have been found which are feathered adds emphasis to evolutionary ideas and the hypothesis that birds are engineer descendants of some dinosaurs, an idea first put forward as long ago as 1870 ( Stone 2010) brings to mind other scientific questions such as who are the predecessors of mankind. Some, although not all dinosaurs, are known as being bird hipped because of their particular anatomical features. They were . small, agile, and walked on two legs, distant some much larger relatives. One such example is the Lesothosaurus Diagnosticus, a medium sized herbivore, first discovered in Southern Africa, within the land of Lesotho, in 1978 ( National Geographic, 2012). It is so birdlike that it looks somewhat like a plucked bird. The dinosaurs were a highly diverse and successful group. Yet most of them did disappear, which has lessons p erhaps for man , who acts as if the world belongs to him by right. Dinosaur remains are often found in association with rocks which can be dated to a particular time. These rocks are usually sedimentary rocks, formed during a large(p) ancient flood , massive floods are often being mentioned in ancient legends in many civilizations, despite the fact that the oldest humanoids found have been dated to only 4.4 million years ago (Schmid, 2009). Perhaps people were describing another cataclysmic flood. If so that will surely also be found in the geological record. According to Gilroy, most dinosaurs became extinct 65.5 million years ago, but it seems that there were survivors , and some dinosaur remains have quite recently been dated at some 700,000 years later (2011). So the picture isnt at all clear. There was not for instance just one massive extermination period , but two. Viegas, ( 2012) describes the Permian extinction, when 90 per cent of all life on earth was destroyed, the most devastating extinction of all time, from insects to plants. Marine creatures as healthful as those on land were affected as well as amphibians and reptiles. Dinosaurs often had air sacs which enabled them to survive in poor air quality

The Problem of Evil in a Divinely Created Reality Essay

The Problem of Evil in a Divinely Created Reality - Essay ExampleSo, why do animals should flavour pain and woeful? Why gentlemans gentleman have to feel pain and suffering, even if their grand grandm opposite Eve was tempted by the Devil and now other people have to pay for her sins? Is God so cruel that he cannot forgive and forget? Why did he create a divine world, mount of glory and bless if it is accessible only for those people, who did not make any sins? Evil is juxtaposition to immortal. If there was no evil, people would not be equal to(p) to comp are it with the goodness or deity. Moreover, God created Heaven and Hell, flavour on the Earth and afterlife. there is an evident binary development of divine reality. Moreover, there are two types of evil moral and physical. When committing a moral evil, a human being is committing it willfully (abortion, theft, murder etc) when committing physical evil, a human being commits it in the result of natural harm (such as famin e, illness etc). The question is what for God created morally ill people or people, who are able to act in a morally evil way (Rachels and Rachels, 2008). Still, humans make their picking themselves. Moral evil is not instilled into people by God. God gives humans an opportunity to make a choice whether to commit evil or not it is a test for morality and spiritual obedience. Therefore, moral evil is the result of our choice and it is another side of free will. Every person can make his own choice how to live, how to behave and if to commit evil or not. And of course, the further life of the person depends on the choice made. There are many other questions with respect to this issue, which deserve special attention and should be discussed. Now, let us cope whether suffering and pain are the same or different for people and animals (DeGrazia and Rowan, 1991). First of all, let us discard the notion that God is blamed for the man of evil in the world. There was an intention creatio n of moral agents of God, who would supposedly create evil, but still these agents exist and for their evil deeds they suffer or experience pain. People may experience either physiological or psychological pain. These types of pain are different. The former kind of pain can be experienced by both humans and animals, while the second type of pain can be experienced only by humans. The concept of suffering has a more general meaning and it encompasses negative content of unpleasant emotions, anxiety, anger, fear, confusion etc (Derbyshire and Jones, 2011). Though suffering can be experienced without pain, it may propel numerous factors of negative emotions or feelings. The scope of suffering is more impressive than the scope of negative experience, caused by pain. Therefore, God triggers negative emotions of humans in piece to manipulate their actions and to direct the society in the right moral direction. At the same time he shows an option of deviance, which will lead to suffering and pain. There is no intention to punish humans or non-humans, there is an intention to support binary relations on the Earth, which are determined between deity and evil. Life of humans and animals is a constant struggle for their existence and struggle against the surrounding dangers and threats. Thus, God does not intend to intimidate or destruct the humans and non-humans. He intends to make them use to realities of divinely created life in order they could survive in the real world. Racial Sensitivity in the Modern World Literature review - 4

Racial Sensitivity in the Modern World - Literature review ExampleIn the research, individuals were asked to maintain their gaffer below water and were promised that the longer they stayed under water, the more money their relatives would get. This was repeated with relatives of differing closeness such as brother, cousin, second cousin etc. The study demonstrate that the participants were naturally able to stay longer when doing it for those who were genetically close to them. The results of the study indicated wherefore people are more likely to like those of their own lavation and distance themselves from those of other plays or ethnic backgrounds. While it is not entirely clear whether expedite is a matter of genetics, it is obvious that people of the same race are more genetically related than those who are from different races. This difference in the race has brought many issues in the past to the point of warranting people to give way better racial relations. Racial sen sitivity is as a result of the conflict between the natural instinct that drives people to like their own race and place those of their own race before everyone else, and the rational part of the brain that tells one that that is no good. As civilized beings, humans are rational lavish to know that they should not hate each other based on race, but still have to deal with an irrational, instinctive part within them that says otherwise. This indicates why there is so much racial sensitive in the social arena. At the same time, as a result of many years of activism, racial sensitivity has become very common especially in public life. Racial sensitivity can be seen in everything that people do. For instance, in some Hollywood movies, there is always a black man who in most cases is depicted as having some special abilities. This need to include entirely one person of the African American ethnic background and making him seem to have some special abilities can be seen as racial sensi tive by the producers of the movie. For insane, in the movie Predators, the only black man in the movie was the only one who was able to detect the almost unvanquishable predator. At the same time, he was the first character to die in the movie.

Greek religion and mythology Essay Example for Free

Greek religion and mythology EssayIn Greek religion and mythology, genus Pan (Ancient Greek , Pn) is the theology of the wild, shepherds and flocks, constitution of mountain wilds, hunting and rustic music, and companion of the nymphs.1 His hold originates within the Ancient Greek language, from the word paein (), meaning to pasture.2 He has the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the comparable manner as a faun or satyr. With his homeland in rustic Arcadia, he is recognized as the god of fields, groves, and wooded glens because of this, Pan is connected to foulness and the season of spring. The ancient Greeks besides considered Pan to be the god of theatrical criticism.3 In Roman religion and myth, Pans counterpart was Faunus, a nature god who was the render of Bona Dea, sometimes identified as Fauna. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Pan became a significant figure in the Romantic movement of western Europe, and also in the 20th-century Neopagan movement.4OriginsIn his earliest appearance in literature, Pindars Pythian Ode iii. 78, Pan is associated with a mother goddess, perhaps Rhea or Cybele Pindar refers to virgins worshipping Cybele and Pan near the poets house in Boeotia.5 The parentage of Pan is unclear6 in some myths he is the son of Zeus, though generally he is the son of Hermes or Dionysus, with whom his mother is said to be a nymph, sometimes Dryope or, in Nonnus, Dionysiaca (14.92), Penelope of Mantineia in Arcadia. This nymph at some point in the tradition became conflated with Penelope, the wife of Odysseus. Pausanias 8.12.5 records the story that Penelope had in fact been unfaithful to her husband, who banished her to Mantineia upon his return.Other sources (Duris of Samos the Vergilian commentator Servius) report that Penelope slept with all 108 suitors in Odysseus absence, and gave birth to Pan as a result.7 This myth reflects the folk etymology that equates Pans name () with the Greek word for all ().8 It is more likely to b e cognate with paein, to pasture, and to share an origin with the modern English word pasture. In 1924, Hermann Collitz suggested that Greek Pan and Indic Pushan might have a common Indo-European origin.9 In the Mystery cults of the highly syncretic Hellenistic era10 Pan is made cognate with Phanes/Protogonos, Zeus, Dionysus and Eros.11 The Roman Faunus, a god of Indo-European origin, was equated with Pan.However, accounts of Pans genealogy are so varied that it must lie buried deep in mythic time. Like other nature spirits, Pan appears to be older than the Olympians, if it is true that he gave Artemis her hunting dogs and taught the secret of prophecy to Apollo. Pan might be multiplied as the Panes (Burkert 1985, III.3.2 Ruck and Staples 1994 p 13212) or the Paniskoi. Kerenyi (p. 174) notes from scholia that Aeschylus in Rhesus distinguished between two Pans, one the son of Zeus and twin of Arcas, and one a son of Cronus. In the rooms of Dionysos, or in depictions of wild landscap es, there appeared not only a great Pan, but also little Pans, Paniskoi, who played the same part as the Satyrs.

This can turn a lot of students away and the memory board rate will decrease. The classes are moderately priced compared to Univers ity of Phoenix and Strayer University (based on Bachelor Degree programs). Opportunities exist for Chancellor to expand. Recommendations would include * Branching out to offer campus sites within the community colleges that they have established partnerships with. This can be obtained by offering professors a stipend to teach courses that are more difficult for students to keep an eye on with the online formats, satellite campuses have contributed to the success of Strayer University and University of Phoenix.* Establish a larger presence with social media. Offer the current students the opportunity to blog about their experiences and join the blogs to their social mediums, this increases awareness of Chancellor and their presence on the Internet. * Increase information on the Wikipedia. org page. The article for Chancellor University is more so focused on the muniment instead of the offerings of the institution. The page describes several changes that Chancellor has been through starting with the Folsoms Mercantile College and can turn potential students away with the constant changes.* Work out, within the partnerships of the community colleges, to offer Chancellor students the option to take their courses as electives. This will increase the amount of electives available for Chancellor students and contribute to the satisfaction of their education experience. * Chancellor should changeover back to letting the students pick their own classes, giving them a selection in each category for the general education electives. This way, the students are responsible for their education and can still study subjects of interest to them. Works Cited Chancellor University.
